It frustrates me greatly that Nathan Chen is called “a disaster” and “a disappointment” for placing 4th after the short simply because everyone was so set on him taking first.

But Knierim/Knierim are praised for “saving the US in the team event” by getting thE EXACT SAME PLACEMENT AS CHEN simply because “they weren’t expected to do this well”.

Every athlete at Pyeongchang is representing their country. They worked their asses off to get there. They are Olympians. They are worthy. All of them.

Just let the athletes skate and enjoy this moment instead of putting ridiculous, astronomical expectations on them or dismissing them altogether. They’ve already succeeded by getting to the Olympics. Leave. them. alone.
