I have a lot of thoughts here, but first of all I’m not even a G/F fan but they should have been first. They had the best pattern. Their edges were SO CLEAR in the 1st pattern, especially Charlene RBI in first KP, Marco LFI in second KPs, and their XF-LFO-Rockers in the 3rd and 4th KPs. I immediately knew they would get level 4 on it and anyone in my rabbit saw me predict it lol. It’s a JOKE that H/D level 1 first pattern got 2.52 GOE, while G/F got 2.07 and S/K got 1.95 GOE for their level 4s. And it’s not even about quality because I could tell in real time G/F had best quality and clearest edges. For H/D Madi’s exit edge on XF-LFO-Rocker was wobbly and flat. Also it’s a joke that H/D got highest GOE (tied with S/B) at 1.38 on the lift! S/B lift that matches music, has difficult position, and difficult exit is clearly superior. G/F and Z/G lift is also better than H/D’s. Also I prefer H/D old twizzles and the old music cut. I didn’t want to hear more Maria. H/D bad levels and easy lift didn’t have any affect while it did in standings for G/F, S/K, and S/B because Gadbois PCS and GOEs I guess. I think H/D’s twizzles are still their best aspect though and they are skating closer together than they used to on their pattern.
S/K have the best RD choreography, but I think were hurt by skating first. They got level 2 on their rotational lift at both Skate Canada and here at GPF, so I think they may have to change the level features they use. I also thought it was interesting that on section 2, they were got yes on the two trickiest KPs: 2 &3, but no on 1 & 4.
S/B got the best crowd reaction and really were at their best presentation wise. Sadly the 1st pattern was only base level. They were doing well on it with level 3 at Finlanida and Helsinki, but it seems they are struggling with it since Sasha’s stumble on it at Rostelecom. I am glad level raised from 2 to 3 on the 2nd section though. I am sad they are in the first group for the FD, but hope they kill it and get a standing ovation.
Z/G were the only ones to get level 4 on the 2nd section, but got lowest GOE on 2nd section at 1.38… again a joke. Their 1st section wasn’t as sharp at NHK. In real time I saw Tiffani’s RBI edge in first key point was flat on initial blade placement. But they did a very good job after what happened with Jonathan’s skates/luggage arriving late and Tiffani having to practice on her own.
H/B looked better presentation wise than at previous competitions this year, but sigh their pattern really needs work. I can always tell their rockers are flat in real time. :/ And also the level 2 on the stsq :/
